The former Leader of Opposition Winfred Kiiza has been designated to the Parliamentary Committee of Gender Labour and Social Development.
Kiiza has not been serving on any committee ever since she was replaced as the Leader of Opposition by the Gulu Woman MP Betty Aol Ocan.
The deputy Opposition Whip Harold Tony Muhindo has also designated the Bugiri Municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa to theLegal and Parliamentary Committee and Apac Municipality MP Patrick Ochan has been designated to the Finance Committee.
Ms Kizza claimed that military men raided the country home of the former Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP) Winnie Kiiza in Kiburara, Kisinga sub-county Kasese.
“On Friday night two armed men spent the night in my compound in Kasese, waiting for my husband to come home and they shoot him. Some friend of ours tipped us and he did not go home that Friday night.
On Sunday evening, Kiiza the Kasese Woman MP also known as the ‘iron lady’ in some political circles posted on her Facebook page; noting that her home in Kasese had been invaded by nine men dressed in military uniform. Kiiza also alleged that the two military personnel, had on Friday raided her home, and were targeting her husband.
Kiiza’s husband Yokasi Bwambale Bihande, is the former Bukonzo County East legislator and two-term district chairman Kasese.
“As I am posting this message, again, nine armed men in military uniform have surrounded our house again in Kiburara Kasese. All of them armed to the teeth with machine guns and RPGs,” Kiiza wrote on her Facebook.
Police dismissed the claims.
In a statement released on Monday by police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, the allegations are untrue and baseless.
According to Kayima, the regional police commander (RPC) responded to the allegations and visited the home but found no military presence at the home.
Kayima also says that the regional police headquarters called Bihande and he declined to speak to the police, which left the police doubting the authenticity of the allegations. He also says that police officers spoke with some domestic workers and neighbours about the allegations but they denied knowledge of any military presence.
