Police in Fort portal have arrested the Kabarole district Production Coordinator on allegations of forging signatures of beneficiaries of the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) programme.

The arrested has been identified as Salvatore Abigaba who was arrested on Thursday afternoon by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department. Abigaba is currently being detained at Fort Portal Police station.

According to Col. Charles Muhumuza, the coordinator of OWC in-charge of the Rwenzori region, Abigaba was supposed to supply coffee seedlings to beneficiaries in Kasenda and Kabonero Sub Counties.

Muhumuza revealed that Abigaba and another seed supplier; Kenneth Mugenyi forged signatures of 100 beneficiaries and claimed that they received the seeds.

Speaking to Mbarara News, Col. Muhumuza says that when they visited the two Sub Counties, some of the beneficiaries complained that they had never received the coffee seedlings. Abigaba was then summoned to explain, the delay to deliver the in-puts.

He however claimed that he had delivered the seeds, but cross examination of the forms indicated that the signatures had been forged.

Godiva Twinomugisa, the OCCIID Kabarole district says that investigations into the case are on-going.
