Munyonyo hosts Sunday Soul performances

Hippy residents of Munyonyo, Muyenga, Kibuli, Kabalagala, Bunga suburbs of Kampala were on Sunday joined at the lakeside by friends in the perfect end to the week.

Revelers lounged around Speke Resort Munyonyo and Whitehead Communications presented to them Sunday Soul; with live performances from Uganda’s rising stars and most authentic of Afro-soul Kenneth Mugabi, J.C. Muyonjo, The Body of Brian and Afrie among others.

Couples and singles got the very best of Uganda’s soul music as they eased themself back into reality with a chilled Sunday evening at the lakeside- it doesn’t get much better than that.

They danced to some afro soul and Speke Resort threw in their carefully curated cocktail menu and delicious food

“It was a beautiful day to spend with family and friends by the lakeside, enjoying some good music,” Jane Mulungi, a reveler commented about the ambiance and performances.

After a short DJ break, Amaru serenaded the audience with love songs as she strum on her guitar an the sun went down. The show closed with Kenneth Mugabi, who put up a great performance of Naki and a few other of his new songs, which had the audience asking for encore after encore. 4040’s Esther Kalenzi even joined Kenneth Mugabi on stage at the end to revel in his performance, up close and personal!

The crowd was just right: over a thousand people showed up and spread out comfortably, enjoying food and drinks along with the live music and a refreshing breeze off Lake Victoria. The kids also had a good time jumping on bouncy castles and blowing bubbles while their parents enjoyed the music.

Meanwhile, right next door, Roast n Rhyme attracted a large crowd, so between both events, the traffic to Munyonyo and back was not kidding, but the trip was well worth it. Unlike other parts of Kampala, it did not rain at all in Munyonyo, and those who came to Speke definitely got their money’s worth. Only 3k for such a luxuriously soul-refreshing afternoon at Speke Resort is an opportunity not to be missed – every Sunday. Next week, Janzi Band will play by Speke Lakeside Grill.
