Elma Challa Kapel, Miss Tourism Karamoja was crowned the national winner on Saturday, edging out runners-up from Teso and Ankole regions winning the top prize in the 5th edition of the pageant held this year at Kampala Serena.
Kapel, 20, is from Kotido District and hopes to get into the entertainment industry. She also speaks fluent Luganda and lives in Kitende, Wakiso District.
Amuge Gertrude Olungura, a first-year student of Bachelors of Community Psychology from Makerere University and current Miss Teso was first runner up. Throughout the pageant, the Soroti girl showed skill dancing to a variety of African folk songs.
Ankole’s Anita Ayebere came third.
A total 36 girls that won in their respective regions with the top 12 finalists making it to the finale in Kampala.
