The High Court Family Division has granted Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah and wife Winnie Amoo Oulanya the long sought after divorce. The judge ordered Oulanyah to pay a monthly maintenance fee of $690 approximately Ushs23,235,666 for the children.

Oulanyah rushed to court in 2015 accusing his wife of abandoning their Ugandan marital home and opting to live in San Diego, California in USA.

As such, he argued, Amoo denied him his conjugal rights and made him spend a lot of money on two homes.

Citing cruelty and causing him emotional distress, Oulanyah concluded the marriage was beyond repair.

Amoo in turn accused Oulanyah of mistreating her and sleeping with their maid, a one Jennifer Amoding.

In his ruling on Monday, Justice Alexandria Rugardya Nkonge cocluded that the three-year marriage was irredeemable.

In a judgment read by the court’s deputy registrar Justine Atukwansa, Justice Nkonge declared the marriage over but gave custody of the kids to Amoo.
