Uganda’s business magnet Dr Sudhir Ruparelia has finally fired Betsy Mugamba the Chief Operating Officer at Sanyu FM accused of misconduct, embezzlement and causing financial loss to the station.
Mugamba’s sacking follows several other sackings after the staff at Uganda’s first private radio station announced a sit-down strike and staged a coup where they seized several station social media accounts.
In a leaked video of the planned strike, Mugamba can be heard in the meeting with the staff discussing the strategies of how to bring down the station and stealing advertisers’ money and disabling the radio systems.
Mugimba is reported to have been embezzling Sanyu FM station money for years until the business mogul landed on her careful planned strategies of siphoning its revenues the marrow.
Sudhir says “I been quiet on this lady but look what she did to my company which I built for many years .I have chosen to let her go now”.
The tycoon adds that “I will never forget the day Betsy and her group stole my social media platforms. From that day I have been looking for this ring leader of this strike”.
Following the Sanyu Fm staff strike early this year, thousands of Ugandans flooded on social media saying that the station as going to collapse as long as Mugimba was still around .
Some of its former interns, reporters, correspondents and other former workers accuse Mugamba of mistreatment and harassment because she was the alpha and the omega, the untouchable and claimed to be the eyes and ears of the radio management.
