Faridah Nakazibwe on Kigongo: “I never loved Al Hajji’

In spite of everything, ex NTV Uganda news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe has no soft spot for her most recent sponsor Moses Al Hajji Kigongo.

During her candid conversation in the weekend issue of Sqoop, the 36-year-old TV star explained why she never cared for the old man who was sponsoring her lavish lifestyle — days after she moved her wedding to Omar Ssali to Dubai because of threats from Al Hajji Kigongo.

” Love is too big a word. The affair with Kigongo had nothing much, it just did not take off beyond the runway and perhaps may be God did not bless it and that is why it ended the way it did.” Nakazibwe told reporter Lawrence Ogwal, 25.

During their time together, Kigongo spoilt her with all sorts of expensive gifts and romantic holiday trips abroad.

The romance seemed to have kicked some fresh life into their lives as they started hitting top city hangouts like Industrial Area based Guvnor to dance nights away.

When the cross-generational affair ended abruptly last December, there were rumours that this could have been because of Kigongo’s advancing age yet Nakazibwe is at her sexual prime and needs to be taken through marathons of nocturnal sessions to make her feel like a teenager again.

One school of though had it that this was indeed the case as she often got ‘bored’ when it came to between the sheets affairs, a thing that was not doing Nakazibwe’s libido any favours.

“Not all affairs are meant to end in marriage.Never have I had regrets,” Nakazibwe added. “But I have seen people regretting on my behalf and this has been a big surprise to me,” she added when asked about whether she had no second thoughts about dumping the loaded second in command of ruling party NRM.

The affair eventually forced Kigongo’s wife, Olive Zaitun Kigongo to seek for divorce from the NRM bigwig.

“I needed some bit of privacy after some people chose to ‘hijack’ my life while in Uganda,” she said.

This week, Faridah Nakazibwe had her wedding to younger boyfriend, Dr Omar Ssali in Dubai.

Nakazibwe regarded as one of the best Luganda news anchors also confirmed her big money switch to Buganda Kingdom bankrolled BBS Television in the interview.

“Yes I quit my job, but when I return to Uganda I will still be on TV. The only difference is I will be serving from another television station. Change is a constant factor of life and I mean, it has been 10 years at NTV and I thought it was time to move on.”
