At least eight people are still in custody at Mbarara Central Police Station after they participated in an anti-Museveni demonstration in Mbarara town yesterday.
Demonstrators carrying placards had started moving around Mbarara town demanding for the resignation of President Yoweri Museveni and the arrest of the Security minister Henry Tumukunde for the recent police brutality. The demonstration started at around 2:40pm with some of the participants carrying placards that read “Museveni should go”, “General Tumukunde should be arrested” among others.
The demonstrators revealed that President Museveni as the Commander-in-Chief is the one who ordered the beating of opposition leaders and that he should be held responsible for the behaviour of the police.
