Socially conscious artists Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi AKA H.E. Bobi Wine (Uganda), Eric 1Key (Rwanda), Juma (Kenya), Monza (Mauritania), Nash MC (Tanzania), Outspoken (Zimbabwe) and Xuman (Senegal) among others will this Friday at Goethe-Zentrum Kampala (GZK) in Kamwokya will be releasing the two songs they worked on recently.
According to Flora Lingenauber Cultural Department, Goethe-Zentrum, the two songs brought together 18 socially conscious artists and producers from across the African continent, along with screening a documentary about the process. There will also be live performances by some of the participating artists who were invited to Kampala to exchange with local musicians on their experience as socially engaged artists.
The songs – La Lucha and The Voice of Reason – were recorded in Kampala in October 2017 in the background of a week that included the #ArtsnActivismUG panel discussions and #YourMusicYourVoice concert. . It was supported by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Uganda, Goethe-Institut, Arterial Network and Music in Africa.
