Enter laughing: Muhangi’s Comedy Nights find a new home at 400 Bukoto

It’s no joke – Comedy Store Ug’s new home of weekly comedy is at The 400 Bar and Restaurant in Bukoto.

When the event’s former venue Diners’ Lounge managers got greedy, Alex Muhangi and his team went on the lookout for a new spot.

Mr. Muhangi said many venues were keen, but surprisingly, it was the corporate hangout along Kisaasi Road that ticked all the boxes.

Like Diners, The 400 will seat 800 people, although the wider space will give the audience a better view of the stage.

Muhangi said the event is part of a plan to diversify what the venue is used for.

“I have been doing entertainment for over 10 years, so my plan going forward is to try and utilise the new space in as many ways as possible, push into new markets, bring a bigger crowd in and push the boundaries a little bit.

“It’s a great space and I think there’s just a lot of untapped potential here.”

And don’t worry, there will be more than Ugandan beers available from the bar – Buchanan said there will even be a special wine list and all other tribes of alcohol and meats for the comedy nights.

“At The400 Bar, we have better service, larger parking space and a spacious environment,” revealed Miss Carol, a Director at The 400.

The weekly comedy show returns tonight (Oct 12) at 7pm with performances from diva Winnie Nwagi and a host of comedians including MC Mariachi, Mad Rat & Chiko, Amooti Omubalanguzi and Kerekere among others. Tickets are Shs20,000 and Shs300,000 for a table.
