Just a heads up: Kanye West isn’t Kanye West anymore. He is not Ye as well. He would now like to be referred to as Kanyesigye.
The 41-year-old rapper – whose real name is Kanye Omari West, also known as Ye – Monday get himself a new name thanks to his host President Yoweri Museveni.
Museveni said: “Uganda is a country is for all the people. I give you Ugandan names,
Kanye West is Kanyesigye and your wife, Kim Kardashian is now Kemigisha meaning the one with blessings from God.”
“This is the source of human life, even the whites originally came from here” he added.
The American rapper on his part expressed happiness at being in Uganda describing it as his second home. He said that he will put up a world class tourism school in the country saying it will be a foundation of tourism not only in Uganda but the East Africa region in general.
Museveni has an addition to his shoe wardrobe: a pair of white sneakers, which he has received as a gift from Kanye.
The President gave Kim Kardashian a copy of the book; Sowing the mustard seed, his autobiography of how he has led Uganda since 1986, after leading the guerilla bush war.
