The Uganda Vintage & Classic Auto Show that made its debut five years ago at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala is back on, organizers revealed.
The CBA-sponsored car showcase that attracts big names in the vintage car collection, including Sudhir Ruparelia and Gordon Wavamuno and many others is scheduled for July 29 at its proverbial home – Sheraton gardens. A day before, there will be a snail trail of participating cars around the city streets.
During a press conference recently to launch the show, Dr John B. Niwagaba, chairman, Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto Show, said this year’s show will have more vintage and classic cars besides motorcycles on display than the previous five editions with new entries from Nairobi, Kenya.
Under the theme Vintage is Elegance, the event has attracted 8 entries from Nairobi this year. All cars will be reviewed by a panel of 4 judges, 2 international and 2 local judges.
Competing cars must be 25 years and above and will be grouped into 17 categories.
They will also have a retro fashion show headlined by Joram Muzira’s models showcasing hair, makeup and dress from yester years.
Legendary reggae artist Maddox Ssematimba and his band will serenade the vintage car enthusiasts who will later be hosted to a Vintage party at Shereton’s Equator Bar.
Tickets cost Shs10,000 for children and Shs20,000 for adults.
