Victoria University gets new temporary Vice Chancellor

The management of Victoria University has approved the appointment of Mr. Joseph Nyakana the the University registrar as the acting Vice Chancellor of institution with immediate effect, following the resignation of Dr. Stephen Robert Isabalija.

According to the Chairman of the University Council, David Matovu, the appointment will go on until such a time as the substantive Vice Chancellor shall have been appointed.

The University Council appointed Mr. Joseph Nyakana who is the University registrar to serve as the acting Vice Chancellor until further notice.

Dr. Isabalija resigned in September.

Victoria University-Uganda was established in 2011 by Edulink Holdings Limited, a private company that invests internationally in tertiary institutions of higher education.

Currently located at the newly refurbished Eagen Mansion on Plot 1/13, on Jinja Road opposite Social Security House. There are reports that with the increasing numbers, owner Sudhir Ruperalia under Ruparelia Group of Companies wants to shift to former Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) headquarters in Kitante, on Yusuf Lule Road where he owns 6.2 hectares of land.

Sudhir besides Victoria University, the tycoon has other multi-million dollar investments in education that include Kampala Parents School and Kampala International School of Uganda (KISU).
