Uganda’s security organisations are in a point of bother after the gruesome killing of UPDF Zonal pensions officer, Maj Erasmus Tinkamarire.

Maj. Tinkamarire, 45, was gunned down near the office of Masindi Resident District Commissioner (RDC), which is located along Butyaba road, Albertine regional police spokesperson Mr Julius Hakiza confirmed.

The UPDF boss was dressed in civilian clothes at about 10.30pm in a toilet.

Tinkamarire who was accompanied by his girlfriend, one Rehema Abenanye, was killed by a prison warder, Musa Arumadri who currently being held at Masindi Police station.

Investigators said that Maj Tinkamarire had come to pick a laptop from his office but first opted to go for a short call from where he was shot by Arumadri who had allegedly taken cover in the toilet during a security sweep after unidentified criminals broke into the office and made off with computers, flash discs and some official documents.

A post-mortem on Tinkamarire’s body has been conducted at Masindi hospital.

Army spokesman Richard Karemire was yet to release an official statement on the killing.
