Uganda’s first solar satellite television service for villages launched

Renowned solar powered solutions firm, d.light has launched the country’s first solar satellite television service, bringing clean energy powered entertainment to households and businesses through a pay-as-you-go payment scheme.

d.light Solar, has today launched a ground breaking solar television- X850, the first of its kind in Uganda for people without access to reliable electricity.

With the majority of those without power from poor communities in countryside, the company focuses on selling solar powered products such as LED lights, phone charging points and fans on financing to rural homes and shop.

“We see a tremendous opportunity in rural areas where demand for energy is growing even faster than supply,” said George Kawemba, Head of Sales d.lightSolar Uganda.

“We pride in giving consumers more energy options for less money. We envision a future where all people are empowered to enjoy the freedom and improved quality of life that comes with access to reliable, affordable off-grid light and power.

The Television solar product the X850 solar home system which is now available to the Ugandan masses with an affordable payment plan of only 2,000Ushs per day for 18 months.

Customers make an initial payment to have the system installed then use a pay-as-you-go model for the electricity. The payments contribute to total cost and, once fully paid, the customer owns the system and the electricity is free.

The solar TV comes with multiple appliances to include 5 super bright lights with switches, a 5 phone charging cable, Radio, and a Torch. The Product also has a warranty of 2 Years and can be accessed countrywide at our outlets and distributor shops.
