In other news… a US national who survived with injures following a road accident which involved three vehicles on Monday evening near Iganga Hospital in Iganga town has narrated her ordeal.

Sarah Giroux, a Chicago-based cinematographer on the trip in Uganda, posted a message on Facebook saying their van was knocked into a sewage ditch during the crash and as the group waited for help their bags were raided, their money was stolen and some of their passports taken.

The accident occurred when a Toyota primo which was being carried on a breakdown vehicle fell off and rammed into a coaster belonging to Hotel Africana in which a group of tourists were travelling to Mbale District. The coaster was carrying 17 people, nine of whom sustained injuries and were rushed to Iganga Hospital.

Police identified the only deceased as David Stainer from Chicago.
