Jamhuri Day, observed on 12th December each year, is the most important National holiday in Kenya as it marks the date it obtained Independence from United Kingdom.
This day is normally marked by festivities to celebrate Kenya’s cultural heritage, milestones and to reflect on the journey of independence.
“As we celebrate our 55th Jamhuri Day, and considering that Cultural Diplomacy is one of the key Pillars of our Kenya Foreign Policy, Kenya High Commission in Kampala endeavours to use our rich and diverse culture to promote friendship and mutual understanding between our two countries,” said the Kenyan Ambassador to Uganda, Kiema Kilonzo.
He added: “We further acknowledge that Economic growth and sustainable social economic development is necessary to achieve the President’s Big Four Agenda which include investment in manufacturing, food security, affordable housing and healthcare for all.”
The Kenyan High Commission targets to have a series of activities in the month of December, 2018 culminating with Jamhuri Day Reception to be hosted on 11th December, 2018.
These activities are geared to; promoting relations between Kenya and Uganda, showcasing Kenya’s cultural diversity and promoting Regional commercial integration and enhancing Kenya as a tourist destination.
The activities include Social Corporate event scheduled for Wednesday, 5th December, 2018.
This will include a visit to MASULITA Children’s Village in Wakiso District is to express solidarity and support the concerted efforts of the Ugandan people to positively impact the lives of the underprivileged in the society.
This is aimed at deepening the friendship between the Kenyan and the Ugandan people.
The Mission with the support of its friends will visit the MASULITA Village to celebrate early Christmas with the Children and donate shoes and food stuff.
The donations have been made possible by companies like; Bata Shoe Company Uganda Limited, Grain Bulk Handlers (U) Ltd., Riders Uganda Ltd., and Symbion Uganda Ltd.
A Golf Tournament on Saturday, 8th December, 2018 will be hosted at the Uganda Golf Club, Kitante to facilitate a stress free environment for interaction and conversation on trade and investment between government officials, the cooperate world, and other like-minded persons.
This opportune moment will also present an occasion for these companies to share ideas and reflect on the current state of Economy.

Jamhuri Day Reception will be held on Tuesday, 11th December, 2018.
