Uganda Waragi happy with DJ Association relationship

Nightlife entrepreneur and Club Guvnor proprietor Charlie Lubega was on Monday night honoured for mentoring deejays in the country as Uganda Waragi promised to keep supporting the DJ Association of Uganda.

Mr. Lubega received the Most Outstanding Achievement Award alongside other winners in the UG Mix Maestro competition received their cash prizes amounting to Shs1 million each.

Among the notable winners were Charlie Lubega (Outstanding Achievement Award)

“The team at Uganda Breweries Ltd are very impressed with the work the DJ Association of Uganda,” Mr. Agaba Tumusiime, brand manager of Uganda Waragi.

““The Spirit of Uganda celebrates all things Ugandan and our unique heritage. Music is a huge part of how we express ourselves as a people and we are glad to have enabled a platform such as this that allowed the outstanding DJ talent we have to be recognized and celebrated. Look at the dj slickstuart and dj roja who had  a very successful show recently. As sponsors we are proud to be associated with the deejay fratetrnity.”

The UG Mix Maestro competition, held by Uganda Waragi in collaboration with the DJ Association of Uganda, aimed to recognize and celebrate outstanding deejay talent in Uganda. The competition featured regional tours that provided local talent with a platform to audition and showcase their individual talent in the battle for regional titles.

According to their website, the DJ Association of Uganda (DJAU) is an Umbrella organization uniting all professionals engaging in the art of Entertainment through the use of Music.

The Association was founded in 2014 and through use of Advocacy and dialogue among key players in the Dj industry.

The sole purpose of the association is to: Engage with the general public to raise awareness about the art of Disco Jockeying, Create conversations about the Disc Jockeys work, Insert a DJ voice into the Music and entertainment Industry in Uganda, Build and develop relationships to strengthen the support across all stakeholders in the Music Industry network.

Francheska Nyakaisiki aka DJ Xzyl from the central region emerged winner of Female DJ of the Year out of the 5 ladies who were competing for the same spot

During last month’s crowning ceremony, a list of DJs were rewarded for exhibiting creativity and extraordinary talent. They walked away with several gongs. Among the notable winners were Charlie Lubega (Outstanding Achievement Award), Selector Jay (TV DJ of the Year), Easy Samuel (Gospel DJ), Dj Nimrod (Radio DJ of the year), Moustey DJ (Events DJ of the year and DJ Roja and Slick Stuart (Night life DJ of the Year). The award for Best Male DJ went to Shaban Nsamba aka DJ Shan256 after different rounds of nonstop intensive battling.
