Football fans in Uganda have been given the much needed assurance that the fourth FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will arrive in Kampala on 5th March 2018.

“The trophy will actually spend the whole 6th March at Lugogo Cricket Oval entrance is by just the purchase of a Coca-Cola bottle and access to take a picture with the trophy is for all, complete with a concert,” revealed Mr. Simon Kaheru, Public Affairs & Communications Director at Coca Cola Beverages Africa (Uganda).

A statement released by the country’s biggest beverages firm added: “In hosting this momentous, international tour, Coca-Cola and FIFA invite fans to get up close and personal with the same trophy that is presented by FIFA to the winning country of the FIFA World Cup™. For thousands of fans, it will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the most iconic symbol in football and share their passion for the game.”

The trophy will come from Cape Town in South Africa on March 4 and head to Kampala, after which it will go to Nigeria’s capital Abuja. Although Uganda did not qualify for the World Cup, the Ugandans will be eager to view the coveted World Cup trophy. The tour is sponsored by one of FIFA’s co-sponsors Coca Cola.

The coveted Trophy currently bossed by the Germany national team is coming to Uganda for the second time. In 2009 the World Cup trophy also toured Uganda ahead of the 2010 event in South Africa.

It will be received by President Yoweri Museveni on 5th March, Humphrey Mandu, deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Uganda Football Association confirmed on Monday.
