With most of the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals’ stars missing, Uganda Cranes coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic announced the squad for the friendly match against Kenya that will be played at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi on Wednesday, March 23rd.
“We just started to work after the Nations Cup and I chose the players that I think can do the job, and those who were there in the last two years. I watched most games in that period and for I have invited them because they have been doing well,” the national team coach told TheUgandan.
There are no big surprises or new names on the list, but Emmanuel Okwi is again in the national team alongside other returnees, while Onduparaka strike Mohamad Shaban is not fit enough.
“The team manager spoke with Shanawho told us he was not 100 percent fit. He expressed his desire to train and work in Arua to be better and ready for the league matches upcoming.’’
According to the Fufa website, players will link up on Monday evening and spend a night together at Sky Hotel, Ntinda for bonding at technical purpose before flying out on Tuesday morning at 9 O’clock aboard Kenya Airways.
The foreign based players will link up in Nairobi from their respective clubs and join the contingent that will have flown from Entebbe International Airport.
