Uganda have flown to South Sudan ahead of their crunch their first 2018 African Nations Championship qualifier on Friday.

The Cranes can go within touching distance of qualifying for CHAN 2018, known as the Total African Nations Championship in Kenya with three points at Juba Stadium.

But waiting for Uganda will be a raucous atmosphere in Juba, as the South Sudanese bid to record their first win over their neighbours in history.

Uganda Cranes trained at their Africa Bible University Lubowa base on Wednesday evening before heading to the airport.

They boarded a RwandaAir plane from Entebbe just before noon for a flight that would see them in the air for just one hour and ten minutes.

KCCA’s 34-year-old player Geoffrey Ssreunkuma is the team captain and will be deputized by defenders Nico Wadada of Vipers SC and SC Villa Jogoo’s Bernard Muwanga.

The fixture with South Sudan is likely to see Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic stick with the four at the back formation that they tried out during the last international break.

Savio Kabugo is set to play alongside Bernard Muwanga, Nico Wadada and Isaac Mulemeas part of a 4-3-2-1 formation which has been tried out in training at Namboole all week.

The winner between South Sudan and Uganda will face the winner between Rwanda/ Tanzania in the next round.

After the South Sudan two legged encounters, Cranes will now face Egypt in August at home in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kampala.

The Squad of 18 players to South Sudan

Goalkeepers: Isma Watenga, Ken Saidi
