As the world gears up for the forthcoming Christmas holidays, Uganda’s tourism industry has confirmed its readiness to handle visitors coming to the country during this festive season to beat the past records of service delivery.
Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda, State minister for tourism and wild life antiquities says Uganda’s tourism sector has been beefed up with much more expertise to handle clients better than before.
“We are ready to host all visitors coming to Uganda to spend their Christmas holidays and I promise that they will enjoy Uganda’s beauty, the pearl of Africa,” Kiwanda says.
He adds that Ugandans should as well develop the love for adventuring their own tourism sites and hotels if the industry is to grow.
“Most Ugandans think tourists are those from outside Uganda but am calling upon them to do away with that perception and enjoy our country’s wonderful tourism and the beauty with it is that our tourism industry is providing the best offers in this festive season,” Hon Kiwanda adds.
Various hotels have reduced the prices of their services as a way of giving their customers and probably to woo more to utilize their services.
In Kampala, Dolphin suites is at £85, Speke Hotel £111, Royal Suites £110, Grand Global Hotel £54, Hotel Sojovalo Kampala £75, Lake Vitoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa £185, Kampala Serena, Sheraton Hotel £196 And Protea Hotel Marriott Kampala £193.
Where as many service providers skyrocket the prices during festive seasons like Christmas, the hotel industry has promised cheap hotel packages that Ugandans and visiting tourists will appreciate.
According to Ajit Singh the Rooms Division Manager at Speke Resort Munyonyo, the hotel has set aside special packages for their clients on the nights of 24th & 25th December, 2016 with a Single Deluxe Room (1 guest) at $176, a double Deluxe Room(2 guests) at $262, One Bedroom Suite (2 guests) at $ 293, Two Bedroom Suite (4 guests) at $ 498 an Executive Room(2 guests) at $ 324, Executive Suite (2 guests) at $ 510, Presidential Cottage (4 guests) will go for $ 647 and a Presidential Suite (4 guests) at $ 832 all inclusive of taxes per night.
Tour operators too recommend their clients to opt for hotels with favourable and attractive packages and ignore those that want to exploit them financially during this festive season.
Samuel Mugisha of BIC Tours, a top tourism agency in Uganda says that as the transport industry, they will do all it takes to make sure that their clients enjoy the best of the Christmas holidays by booking for them in comfortable yet cheaper hotels.
“Like we have always done, BIC Tours is ready to offer memorable experiences to our clients by giving the most comfortable means of transport, booking for them in nice hotels at a lower rate and ensuring that they enjoy their festive season in Uganda,” Mugisha said.
According to Anthony Njoroge of Aero Link, a flight company offering inland flights, this coming Christmas will be very special compared to what they have always offered in the past.
