Uganda Cranes arrived in the country last night from Gabon where they have been participating in the continent’s biggest football tournament for the first time in 39 years.

They managed a point and scored a goal in a tough Group D that saw them finish bottom of the log and 13th overall in Gabon with a better goal difference than the other seven teams that failed to progress to the last eight.

Uganda lost to four-time champions Ghana 1-0 following an Andre Ayew penalty in the 30th minute before falling to record seven-time winners Egypt 1-0 after a late goal in the 88th minute by El Said.

Against Mali, the Cranes who were playing for pride finally found the back of the net through youngster Farouk Miya in the 69th minute before they conceded an Yves Bissouma equalizer three minutes later.

The players were welcomed by somewhat hundreds of people at Entebbe Airport at around 2am.
