The Uganda Communications Commission has said they are working with Police and sister security agencies in a bid to trace the kidnappers  of the late Susan Magara.

TheUgandan understands that a Police team lead by Abbas Byakagaba, the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and the investigating arm of the elite Special Forces Command (SFC) are jointly investigating the  gruesome kidnap and murder of Magara, taken captive for 20 days until she was murdered in cold blood and her body on Tuesday dumped at Kitiko village in Makindye Ssabagabo municipality, Wakiso District.

UCC publicist Pamela Ankunda without divulging details told a local daily on Wednesday that: “We have been offering help to security agencies in the search for Susan’s kidnappers. We have also done this in many other cases.”

The kidnappers were using 17 phone SIM cards throughout the hostage period to demand a ransom from the family, but these SIM cards cannot be traced to any of the kidnappers.

The preliminary information says the SIM cards seem to have been registered under pseudo names.

And UCC continues to push telecoms to have all unregistered SIM cards  deactivated and no new one be entered on any cellular phone network without such registration.
