The First Lady and minister of Education, Ms Janet Museveni Tuesday officially released the Uganda National examinations board (Uneb)’s UACE (Senior Six) results for 2016, this time, the pass rate was 98.7% compared to 97.8% of 2015.

Overall, females performed better than males as many candidates qualify for university and tertiary institutions, Uneb executive secretary Daniel Nokrach Odongo said.

However, Uneb announced that results of 64 candidates from 11 education centers are being withheld as investigations into exam malpractice continue. This is a significant drop from 279 cases registered last year.

Science Foundation College in Kampala had highest numbers of withheld results at 27, Alliance SS Ibanda had 11, Ezra Memorial SS Kibuku at 10, Rubona SS and Iganga Parents SS each had 5 candidates.

A total of 104,243 candidates registered for the 2016 UACE compared to 101,268 in 2015.

Agago District obtained the highest failure rate followed by Buyende, Bulambuli and Zombo Districts.
