There were mixed reaction from the public when Justice Wilson Musalu Musene in April last year (2016) released former Uganda Cranes and SC Villa team manager Christopher Mubiru Kisingiri who had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for having carnal knowledge on a one Emmanuel Nyanzi against the order of nature.
Court heard that in December 2009, while at Mengo Kisingiri LCI, a Kampala suburb, Mubiru had sexual relations with Nyanzi and others, an offence contrary to section 145(a) of penal code act. Nyanzi was allegedly a minor aged 17 years when Mubiru reportedly engaged him.
Justice Musalu reasoned that the trial magistrate erred when she considered evidence from a video which had not been tendered in court. The Buganda Road Magistrate Flavia Nabakooza who had sentenced Mubiru to Court had also ordered him to compensate the victim sh50m.
Police investigating his contacts
Mubiru is well known for cruising in tinted expensive cars that included a Range Rover, Ford Mustang, Chrysler, Bentley among others which draws suspicion to him.
A source from Uganda Police CID intimated to TheUgandan that even though Court found him innocent, the police is investigating several people based in the United States and Europe who he communicates with regularly. According to Police, there is an organized racket recruiting younger boys and girls in the illegal vice and there is a lot of money exchanges from overseas.
Mubiru is said to have fled the country and currently staying in the US but in touch with the racket in the country through his aides in Kampala.
The police officer who preferred anonymity because he is not aloowed to talk to the media said that the police is working with their counterparts to monitor the said people who reportedly had dealings with him.
There are particularly six people based abroad; Hellen Muyama, Ruth Nabugozi, Nsereko OJ Kalugi, Ashraf Kabugo, Hellen Naiga, and Morris Bukenya that are being investigated about their dealings with Chris Mubiru.
“We are monitoring them because there was a lot of money exchanges, communication and contact between them and Mubiru and we want to know what the money was meant and what their exact business was,” the source said.
A few months back the First Lady and Minister for Education Janet Museveni warned that there are some materials in some schools around the country aimed at instilling the illegal vice in children.
She raided a school at Nsambya and the staff was quizzed for hours about a book that was being supplied to pupils.
