Three people have been confirmed dead in two road accidents in Mukono and Kyankwanzi districts.
Two of the three perished in a motor accident in Mukono along Kampala Jinja highway while another person died in a similar accident along Hoima_Kampala highway today morning.
According to the Officer in Charge of traffic in Mukono Moses Sonko , the accident occurred at Ngandu trading centre at about 8:45. This happened after a speeding Spacio registration number UAV 287L knocked two men on a boda boda reg number UDL 828S throwing them in the middle of the road where they were run over by a white semi-trailer registration number UAQ905Z.
Mr Sonko identified the dead as Mugisha Joseph and Rwamwosho Amos who died on spot, adding that their bodies have been taken to Kawolo hospital for postmortem.
He says police has already started the hunt for the driver of the spacio who managed to escape after the accident.
In a separate accident, one person died on arrival in hospital after an omnibus taxi travelling from Hoima district to Kampala was knocked by a lorry.
According to eye witnesses, the taxi registration number UAT 220A collided with a Fuso lorry registration number UAR 892R.
According to the Kyankwanzi Officer in Charge of Traffic Mr Godfrey Amara, the Fuso truck driver Fred Waiswa, 32, sustained life threatening injuries that ended his life shortly after arriving at a clinic in Bukwiri town where he was rushed for medical attention.
Four of the passengers who were in the taxi were rushed in a police highway patrol car to Kiboga hospital in a critical condition.
The critically injured include Asiimwe Araali, Henry Balijuka and Moses Okello who were travelling from Hoima.
Police says initial investigations reveal that the taxi was speeding by the time of the accident.
