Tension in Koboko after UPDF soldier shot four ‘drunk civilians’

Locals in Koboko District are up in arms with the district leaders led by the district chairman Mr Hasan Nginya to arrest and prosecute a UPDF soldier attached to Kagoropa UPDF detach in Kuluba Sub County, Koboko district shot four people.

The incident happened at a disco dance in Mugujayi trading centre, Kuluba Sub County on early Tuesday morning.

Mr Nginya who visited the scene of the offence is now under pressure to get calm the flaring tempers and has for the last 24 hours tried to cool the tension and anger among residents towards the UPDF soldiers.

The district police commander Koboko,Mr Patrick Ismat said the soldiers who were from the new year festivities patrol and the crowd who were at the disco dance at Mugujayi provoked the soldiers who were already tired who retaliated by shooting.

The locals are calling for the head of the suspect as the victims — three men and a woman. Continue to nurse gunshot wounds at Koboko health centre IV.
