The former Kampala Parents School (KPS) proprietor, Edward Kasole Bwereere has publically came out to support current owner Sudhir Ruparelia, by assuring parents that the school will not be affected by the financial issues currently facing the tycoon’s businesses.
In an interview, Mr Kasole praised his fellow businessman say, “My relationship with Mr Sudhir (Ruparelia) is excellent. I went out as a willing seller and I found a willing buyer. We sat and negotiated and we agreed and the man paid me fully and I walked away.
He added, “I love him very much. I like him. He is a good man. He paid me my money. Fully and for sure the current troubles he has in his other business like Crane Bank will not affect the school.”
Sudhir recently called for open forum between parents and management held at the school and took time to listen to their complaints.
Humble beginnings
In early 1970s, Mr Kasole had an idea of homeschooling children. He always went in the neighbourhoods with the aim of encouraging parents to embrace the idea as he taught the children since most schools were far from their homes. In 1975, he opened the door of his home garage to the first 20 pupils who had their first lesson that day.
Today, the school sits on a 14 acre piece of land with more than 3,000 pupils from pre-primary to Primary Seven. The school was owned by its founder until 2008 when he sold it to Sudhir Ruparelia.
The school not only boasts of educating prominent alumni such as Brig Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Natasha Museveni Karugire, Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, Diana Museveni Kamuntu, Andrew Benon Kibuuka, Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda’s children as well as Amelia Kyambade’s, but also takes pride in the good performance of their pupils over the years.
