All is not well for city tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia who is battling to save his ‘business ship’ from drowning.
After losing one of his core businesses; Crane Bank, Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia seems to be keen on keeping his other businesses intact although it is proving to be an uphill task.
The wave that has hit Mr Ruparelia’s businesses is too strong that his business empire in Uganda that cuts across various sectors has been shaken.
Sudhir’s empire under Ruparelia Group involves foreign exchange bureau, insurance, education, real estate development and management, floriculture, broadcasting, and hotels among others.
The Ugandan businessman of Indian origin has been in a meeting with parents of pupils of his Naguru based Kampala Parents School 2004, to dispel fear among the parents although drama ensued when the issue of teachers’ welfare came up.
It is said that some parents have already taken their children to other schools fearing that the embattled businessman’s school may fall into the trouble that befell the once flourishing Crane Bank.
Sudhir allegedly made an impromptu appearance in the beginning of term meeting at the school believed to be charging the highest school fees in the country.
According to those in the meeting, parents demanded to know why teachers in the school are poorly paid, arguing that the beautiful structures at the school are not enough in nurturing pupils.
Sudhir who said he cannot increase salaries for now prompted the angry parents to walk out of the school main hall in protest.
It remains to be seen how Sudhir will sustain his business empire in the wake of speculation that the center can no longer hold.
