One of Buganda’s modest Members of Parliament, Deogratious Kiyingi (Bukomansimbi) is fighting for his life in an Asian hospital, TheUgandan has found out.

Hon. Kiyingi was over the weekend been airlifted to Thailand in critical condition. Kiyingi was flown out of the country on life support on Saturday in the company of his wife, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, the State Minister for Youths and Children Affairs and admitted in Phyanthai 2 Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand..

The MP has been battling complications in his lungs since November 2017.  He was hospitalised at Agha Khan Hospital late last year but his health deteriorated early this year.

Kiyingi’s political strategist, Muhammad Musa Matovu Kigongo, says his boss could hardly breath when he was flown out of the country. According to Kigongo, Kiyingi developed complications in November last year but his conditioned worsened in December.

Kiyingi missed the crucial vote on the removal of the presidential age limit. Some Democratic Party members accused him of feigning sickness to avoid the controversial vote because of conflict of interest.

DP members have repeatedly accused Kiyingi of working with president, Yoweri Museveni since his wife decided to take up a ministerial appointment in government. But Kiyingi insists he is still a member of the opposition Democratic despite the fact that his wife works with president, Museveni’s government.

Deogratious Kiyingi talks to Kampala minister Beti Kamya as wife Nakiwala Kiyingi (C) looks on.
