Muzamiru Mutyaba and Geoffrey Sserukuma Sunday combined to score the priceless goal that carried Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) into the the first round of the 2017 Total CAF Champions League as a 2-1 defeat maintained Mike Mutebi’s interest in all three competitions in which his side have competed this season.
KCCA will face African Champions Mamelodi Sundowns in mouthwatering ties visiting Denis Onyango’s clubs on the weekend of March 10-12 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria before playing the retuen leg on the weekend of March 17-19 at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo next month.
Mutebi sent out an attack-minded team that had Mutyaba deployed on the right side of midfield, Joseph Ochaya, on the left, Isaac Kirabira and Ivan Ntege are the two anchormen Tom Masiko playing behind forwards Sserunkuma and Derrick Nsibambi and on 20 minutes the gamble paid off as Sserunkuma scored off an assist from Mutyaba.
But Primeiro de Agosto had other ideas and took just 10 minutes to draw level through Bua and then took the lead through a superbly-executed 37th minute after Geraldo headed past Benjamin Ochan in the Ugandan’s goal as the halftime break approached.

The second period largely failed to live up to the excitement of the first as De Agosto enjoyed plenty of possession without finding a way to successfully pick a hole in the Ugandans’ defence.
By the hour mark, and presumably desperate to avoid conceding again, Mutebi threw Paul Mucureezi for Masiko and Brian Majwega for Nsibambi into the action.
The attacking duo tireless kept the homeside busy via the flanks while KCCA who led 1-0 from the first leg in Kampala after 90 minutes managed avoid defeat of more than 2-goal gap before celebrations ensued in the Estadio 11 Novembro away team dressing room.
