KCCA 3-0 Police
Geoffrey Sserunkuma’s brace saw KCCA FC beat Police 3-0 in a pulsating contest in Friday’s Uganda Premier league clash at Philip Omondi Lugogo Stadium in Kampala.
In the first period the hosts were definitely the more threatening attacking side with midfielder Paul Mucureezi often prominent for the Kasasiro Boys.
Goalkeeper Sam Kivumbi was in some good form for the visiting cops and he kept out Mucureezi on more than three occasions.
However, despite absorbing most of the pressure in the first few minutes, Mike Mutebi’s KCCA charges went ahead when Sserunkuma converting in the eighth and 12th minute to give the reigning league champions a deserved 2-0 lead by halftime. Youngster Derrick Nsibambi’s powerful header to sealed the win 3-0 sending the fans into a frenzy in the 70th minute.
The win takes KCCA to 22 points from 10 matches ahead of Tuesday’s visit to Mwerere against Bright Stars FC.
Elsewhere, Soana were held to a 2-2 draw by Lweza in a thrilling game played at Kavumba Recreation Centre ground in Wakiso. Sam Simbwa’s side now drops from third to fourth on 17 points while Lweza climb two slots to ninth position dispensing Proline and The Saints, all on 12 points but with a better goal difference.
Ambrose Kirya’s goal a minute to the mandatory half time break for Sports Club Villa Jogoo against Bul at Kakindu Stadium was enough to guide the 16-time record league winners to their 5th victory of the campaign.
The city side now moves to 18 points and displace Soana in the third place.
