Women in Uganda are calling upon those in authority to strengthen and implement laws that are geared towards protecting them if they are to be economically and socially empowered as Uganda strives to attain the long awaited middle-income status by 2020.
The Executive Director Center for Women in Governance (CEWIGO) Bonnie Kiconco Mutungi says laws and by-laws that bar men from entering drinking places very early in the morning, spelling the rights of men in the homes among others that will see men get more response to their families are very much needed to help lift the heavy burden that women in Uganda carry as they raise and look after their respective families as men go around enjoying free life.
