There were no strangle marks on the neck of the deceased despite circulating rumours that Luwandaga was strangled to death.

Andrew William Luwandagga who had been suspected of his smothering elderly father Patrick Luwandagga has been found not guilty of murder according to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Emilian Kayima.

The junior Luwandagga, 30, of Namasuba and recently deported from the United Kingdom had denied murdering Patrick on Saturday morning, but admitted wrongdoing on grounds of diminished responsibility in a domestic brawl.

Luwandagga a veteran Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) sports commentator will be buried on Monday at his ancestral home at Wamala-Katooke in Wakiso.

The arrest of William followed statements by the neighbours indicating that he and his younger brother had been fighting the night before and that the intervention of their father could have resulted to his death.

Statements were taken from the four family members that included a widow and two other children who were in the house at the time Luwandagga died.

The postmortem from Mulago hospital however rules out foul play in the death of the celebrated journalist. There were no strangle marks on the neck of the deceased despite circulating rumours that Luwandaga was strangled to death.
