A heavy bounty has been placed on finding the man – a highly trained professional in engineering and electronical field, who is a lead suspect in a case in which two Chinese women were killed by stabbing in a Kampala suburb of Kikoni, west of Makerere University on February, 15 in the first case of kidnap resulting in murder among the Chinese community in Uganda.
The Chinese community in Uganda has offered a reward of upto Three hundred million Uganda shillings (Shs300m) for information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the man who murdered Ren-Ju, 33, a waitress at Club 7 in the city’s upscale Kololo suburb, and Sang-Weng-Wa, 34, a waitress at Chinese Business Hotel in Bugolobi.
A statement from the Chinese community said; “Uganda Chinese Community offers a reward of up to sh300m for information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the murder of Ms Ren Ju 33 and Ms. Sang Weng Wa 34 of the Chinese nationality on the February 15, this year.” According to the statement published in New Vision, the murder case was reported to Police under reference number CRB91/2017 at Wandegeya Police Station in Kampala.
TheUgandan has on several occasions tried to inquire from authorities about the progress of the investigations but Police were unwilling to share the name and photograph of the suspect saying it may divert their effort to hunt for him.
The Chinese, whom police suspect to have kidnapped the women before demanding a ransom from family members in China, had made different transactions, from renting a house to hiring a driver, without leaving his identity.
While visiting the scene of crime, the Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, said they were working with the Chinese police to investigate the matter.
