The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has been hit by the death of one of its senior leaders, who passed under unclear circumstances.
Massy Moses Kasule, the Butambala District FDC chairman, a former party envoy to Scandinavian countries was pronounced dead by his family on Monday to the shock of many friends and followers.
Rajab Kaaya, FDC’s National Vice chairman Buganda region said The deceased who has been coordinating his Free Massy Mining project reportedly succumbed to high blood pressure, but there are many dissenting voices citing rival involvement in Kasule’s demise.
Unverified claims by Kasule’s supporters say that he might have been drugged by opponents considering he appeared a healthy, clever man who had no enemies outside politics.
In 2012 during the Butambala by-elections, Kasule for sometime fell out with the top FDC leadership after they tried to stop him from contesting against Muwanga Kivimbi of the Democrattc Party. He told the FDC National Executive Committee that he would only abandon the race if they gave him an honest assessment of the political situation but didnt.
The likes of former FDC president, Dr. Kizza Besigye and Kira Municipality MP Ssemujju Nganda didn’t back Massy Kasule in Butamabula, he lost to current MP Kivumbi hands down.
