Sham pastor Kiwedde extradited from Zimbabwe

Self-proclaimed Pastor Paul Muwanguzi aka Kiwedde has been extradited from Zimbabwe, a year after escaping from prison, according to local media.

His arrested has been confirmed by Mr Hassan Kasingye, the Director of International Police Directorate in Uganda.

Mr Maxwell Ogwal the greater Masaka Regional police commander reveals that police on Wednesday evening received Kiwedde from the Interpol officers at Entebbe and was accordingly transfered to Kalisiizo in Rakai District.

Muwanguzi will face charges of prison break, impersonation, being in possession of a fake passport, on top of having his earlier prison sentence reviewed.

kiwedePastor Kiwedde was first arrested in 2013 and sentenced to four-year jail sentence for impersonating a Kenyan priest to extort sums of money.

At the time the flamboyant pastor was charged with impersonation and imprisoned for 23 months. He had earlier also been also after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser.

After serving two years of his sentence, Pastor Kiwedde escaped from Mutukula prison, Rakai district, under unclear circumstances and went into hiding in Zimbabwe.

 

Pastor Muwanguzi, became famous in Uganda of activities at his defunct pentecostal church under the auspice of Holy Fire Ministries on Entebbe road in Kampala where thousands of believers gathered for miracles. He extorted a lot of money from his followers from which he accumulated wealth and bought lavish cars he branded with ‘Kiwedde’ an expression meaning ‘it is done’.
