Senior UPDF bosses to revolt against Museveni over Maj. Gen. Muhoozi

A criminal conspiracy among a group of senior Baganda officers in the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces are reportedly planning to openly oppose the Commander in Chief Gen. Yoweri Museveni over marginalization.

This follows their ally and previous army chief General Katumba Wamala being made a junior Minister for Works in the government after serving as the top army official since 2013, a departure seen as a demotion by most officers on the ranks of Major to Colonel, currently grumbling over stagnation in promotion.

Now the angry group that is said to include among others Maj. Muwanga David Kibirango, Lt. Col. Kiggwe, Lt. Col.  Richard Kiwanuka among others who joined the NRA in the early 1980s are protesting the fact that most of the new entrants are the ones they are saluting.

“This should not be a problem but as long as they (irritated middle ranked officers) are also considered for promotions,” a military source said. Adding, “The new entrants who are Genetically Modified Officers like Maj. Gen. Muhoozi who are being promoted every year have overshadowed the senior Baganda officers and no one is minding about them.”

According to information, those officers who are mostly being deployed in the Operation Wealth Creation while others are doing clandestine work for the president. In their areas of posting, sources stated that the officers feel it will take ages for President Museveni to recognize their efforts since they are no longer involved in military operations which the CiC seems to be giving a lot of attention.

“These are not their ranks given the kind of experience they have in the army. They have worked tirelessly and are now serving diligently. Lt. Col. Kiggwe for instance was posted in rural Kakuuto as OWC supervisor, Lt. Col. Richard Kiwanuka is in Kasese and many more. The general feeling is that, the middle-ranked officers need to by recognized by the CiC since he has finished handing the generals,” the army source added.

There are also reports that Museveni’s recent reshuffle was to bring to the top youthful officers because these listen and obey him religiously while the old guard weren’t heeding and he feared them.
