Sadolin launches Kampala Colour Center as part of expansion plan

the colour centre is not replacing the other distribution channels like the hardware shops, but rather providing an opportunity for clients to experience more with their choices.

Sadolin has today launched a first of its kind colour center which will offer experiential shopping for customers looking for uninterrupted colour setting. The new center was launched in an event hosting top executives in the construction industry, Sadolin customers, distributors and dealers at the Freedom city mall in Kampala.

The spacious establishment will be home to all Sadolin products and services and customers will be able to enjoy a wide array of services including paint tinting and mixing with the latest technology and machinery, tailored services, color consultations, among others.

Inaugurating the center at the freedom City Mall, Mr. Deon Nieuwoudt, AkzoNobel Planning and Execution Manager, said that this was an affirmation of AkzoNobel commitment to the expansion of Sadolin footprint and growth commitment to Uganda through firming up franchise agreements with local entrepreneurs.

He explained, “The concept of the colour centers is to firstly, extend Sadolin product to customers and offer more tailored services and experiential shopping to our customers. Secondly, to give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to expand their business frontiers and be part of the Sadolin chain while tapping into our rich expertise.”

Crown Paint Chief Executive Officer Mr. Rakesh Rao who is currently looking after the Sadolin Brand under the same position in Uganda said the center will offer attractive commercial propositions for entrepreneurs who wish to venture into them. He added that the center would offer a variety of paint options and present professional consultations on color mixes and paint aesthetic finishes to all Sadolin customers.

“Essentially this means that Sadolin customers, agents and distributors will have a one stop shop for all their colour needs. This is a stride in enhancing our customer care, proximity of the Sadolin product as well as partnerships with local entrepreneurs,” he explained.

The signed entrepreneur for the first Color Center, Mr. Joseph Kanaaba, said this was a great opportunity for entrepreneurs wishing to venture further in the paint and coating industry as the partnership with Sadolin gives them access to work closely with a respectable global paint company— AkzoNobel and the Sadolin brand.

The Guest of Honour, Chairman of Construction and Hardware Dealers Association, Al Hajji Abbas Mutyaba applauded the move saying it that it will bring a new angle to how trade in the construction industry is viewed.

“This establishment signals growth and expansion in both the paint and construction industry. It also addresses an important factor of customer experience at purchase which I believe is an important area we could greatly improve as an industry. I envision that this investment by Sadolin will encourage local entrepreneurs to expand but also challenge them to now sell and distribute at a competitive standard.

The Color center concept is part of the AkzoNobel paint and coating company projects aimed to give customers experiential colour shopping and entrepreneurs and opportunity to have access to world class technology services. Since relaunch, the Sadolin paint quality has improved a tenfold as the company is benchmarking international quality standards.

The brand additionally looks to open many more centers across the country over the next few years.

Sadolin Paints has partnered with a local investor to set up the first of its kind colour centre/stall at Freedom City Mall in Namasuba in Wakiso district.
The Colour Shopping centre worth over Ush180m is owned by a local investor Joseph Kanaaba.
