Sadam Juma named new Express captain

Express Football Club have confirmed that experienced midfielder Ibrahim Sadam Juma will captain the team this season going forward.

The club made the announcement at Kibinge Hotel, Rubaga on Thursday and he will take over from Sulaiman Mutyaba, who left the club – announcing his retirement.

“Being appointed captain of Express FC is just a title bestowed on me, as the team is made up of many good leaders who will be surrounding me, who I would want to lead any time,” Juma told TheUgandan.

Saddam was released from Vipers before the start of the 2016/17 season before joining Express. The former Kampala Kids League (KKL) graduate has three goals and three assists in the league so far this season.

Joseph Semujju and Sulaiman Jjingo (both from Vipers), Rashid Nsubuga and Juma Ssebaduka (Stegota), Muhammad Ochaya Sharif (Nakaseke International College), Remmy Makumbi (Blessed Sacrament, Kimanya SS), Daniel Otto (Kireka United), Vincent Onyebuk and Jien Didie were the newly players unveiled today by club chairperson Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi in Rubaga.

The former Ugandan champions said they had released strikers Herman Wasswa, John Semazzi and Isaac Sserunkuma, goalkeepers, Ali Kiggundu and Ivan Mutumba, defender Bob Kasozi and midfielders Paddy Tebusweke, Rogers Lukwiya, Richard ‘Gazza’ Kigozi and Muhammad Kayongo plus promising forward Yaffesi Mubiru.

Express are  7th in the Uganda Premier League and open up their second round at home in Wankuluku against The Saints on 7th February.
