On January 21 (Sunday), Ruparelia Group of Campanies held the annual In-house Sports Day.

Workers swapped ties for trainers to take part in a sweaty day at Kampala International School Uganda (KISU-Bukoto). For this event, executives, employees and their families participated together.

The event was designed to praise their hard work, promote health through physical activities, encourage a sense of belonging to the business empire, and create a “Fun Fitness Teamwork” corporate culture.

Teams of athletes from different companies in Kampala took part in the competition that was graced by the Ruparelia group boss, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and other Ruparelia family members.

Stars of track and field were out in full force with tens of competitors taking part in old school events such as a three-legged race and an egg-and-spoon run.

The sports day also consisted of ball games such as soccer and tug rugby and other fun games like puzzle, tag of war, Scrabble Wheel barrow, sack race and Sudoku that put a quirky spin on the traditional event.

The teams took part in good spirits in the fine weather, in what turned out to be a hotly contested battle.

Hospitality market leaders Speke Resort with 445 points took the gold medal in the overall competition, floriculture giants Rosebud’s results were good enough for second, while educationists Kampala Parents took the final podium place with Kabira Country Resort next in queue.

Here are some of the moments captured at KISU.

The winner in each category collected 50 points.
Other disciplines the teams competed in included Football, Tag of war, Egg n Spoon, 200 metres, Tug Rugby and Scrabble.
The event was majorly organised with an aim of promoting team work, fitness and fun amongst the workers.
Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia (R), chairman, Ruparelia Group graced the occasion as Chief-Guest of the ceremony and handed over the prizes to various winner and runner-ups of the sports meet.
Speke Resort garnered 445 points to emerge champions of this year’s gala after picking victories in 100 metres, Sudoku puzzle, Wheel barrow, 3 legged and sack race.
