Ronald Rugumayo has lifted the Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Golf Open at the par-72 course in Kitante on Saturday  in his last event as an amateur.

Rugumayo from Toro Golf Club was seven strokes away from the top ten and Friday opened with a disappointing 80 gross beat defending champion Ronald Otile via a 3-hole play-off in a hotly contested battle.

Otile and Rugumayo had by 5pm both picked bogeys on par-4 Hole No.18 that saw them tie overall to force the play-off where the 2016 and 2012 Mayombo Open winner birdied all three playoff holes.

The Professional category will be up next after the amateur golfers from 26th-30th September.
