‘REIGNITING THE GAME’ – Babu revels in Uganda’s return to Inter. Tennis Federation

Former Tennis National Champion and current Federation boss, Cedric Babu looks forward to reigniting the game of tennis in Uganda.

This follows Uganda Tennis Association being readmitted as full members of both the International Tennis Federation and Confederation of African Tennis in 2018.

The local body lost the affiliation status to the world body four years ago after accumulating debts worth $50000 ( about Shs170m) over seven years.

“On a personal and professional level this means so much to me,” Mr. Babu said on Thursday.

Ever since losing touch with ITF, the plight of the sport had been much evident as ULTA lost rights to host an ITF Future and junior events as well as partaking in the Hopman and Davis Cup tournaments.

“This means Uganda will now be able to access development resources, participate in and host  global Cups, enter junior tennis events and so much more,” he added.

Former Uganda Tennis Open title winner David Oringa will return to the international scene.
