Mr. Wamala Godfrey “Troy” , the prime suspect in the death of populary music artist, Moses Ssekibogo alias Mowzey Radio has been arraigned before Entebbe Chief Magistrate Mary Keitesi Lukwago in Entebbe court.
He is expected to be charged with Murder, an upgrade from Grievous Harm, which he faced initially when the singer was still hospitalized.
“The case is now murder since the victim died,” said Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Wamala was picked up on Sunday evening from his hideout in Kyengera in Wakiso district.
Wamala is alleged to have assaulted and pushed Mowzey Radio to the ground on January 22 as he was being led out of a hangout, De Bar in Entebbe.
The artist became unconscious and was rushed to Nsambya hospital before he was moved to Case clinic, where he breathed his last on Thursday last week. Wamala was implicated by a number of witnesses interviewed by police as well as the other two suspects including the proprietor of the bar and bouncer.
Preliminary information shows that trouble started after Mowzey opened a bottle of Black Label whisky and poured it on the revellers in the bar. This prompted the bar owner to order the bouncers to throw him out of the bar.
It is alleged that Wamala grabbed Mowzey and threw him to the floor, cracking his skull in the process according to music producer Washington who claims to have been with the artist at the time. Mowzey was laid to rest at his home in Kagga, Nakawuka in Wakiso district on Saturday.
But Mr. Wamala insists he did nt kill Mowzey Radio.
While being interrogated by detectives at Katwe Police on Sunday night, Troy denied working as a bouncer and neither attacking Radio.
But he admitted there is a protracted argument between the singer and other parties over booze and money.
Wamala further said he was among the customers in the bar and witnessed the disagreement.
However, he doesn’t tell whether he saw Radio being beaten into coma at the club.
Among the people who were in company of Radio is producer Washington who on Monday appeared on local televsion NBS and asserted that the suspect (Wamala) is the real killer of Radio.
Washington who is considered as the prime witness like Wamala revealed, confirmed there is a disagreement.
But in this case Wamala grabbed Radio at the bar entrance (Radio was leaving), lifted him and threw him down, “I heard Radio’s skull crack and immediately his eyes shut,” he said.
