The National Medical Stores has vowed not to supply drugs to lower government health facilities in the next financial year if the government does not provide Shs 41 billion as requested.
The General Manager NMS Moses Kamabare revealed his frustrations to the Parliament Health committee implicating the Ministry of Finance for failed financial support for procurement of these drugs as they have to be distributed to the health facilities.
He says NMS has been operating on a shortfall of Shs 68 billion of which the Ministry of Finance promised to pay before the end of this financial year but not yet fulfilled hence can not go ahead to operate in credits the coming financial year.
The facilities to be affected include including all health centres in the country.
Among other items NMS will not distribute are the mama kits which are budgeted to cost Shs 3.8 billion.
