Detectives involved in investigating the shooting of child activist Kenneth Akena have barred his family from talking to the press about the matter anymore.
A source connected to the investigation told TheUgandan that a group of people who claim to be Akena’s relatives yesterday handed over a video clip of the deceased’s dying statement which is set to be used in Court on December 6 to pin Mathew Kanyamunyu, Joseph Kanyamunyu, Cynthia Munwangari and others still at large are accused of shooting Kenneth Watmon Akena on November 12th along Kampala-Jinja road, opposite Malik car bond that led to his death.

The family relatives who preferred anonymity for security of their relatives told our reporter that all is being done to ensure that they get the necessary justice.
They however showed discontent with the way investigations are going on wondering why police barred them from addressing the press about the matter.
According to them, the video clip comprises of the last minute interaction with Akena and think it will help police to speed up the investigations.

Akena reportedly gave a dying declaration to his brother John Paul Nyeko claiming that he was shot dead by the very people who took him to hospital for treatment.
However, Emiliano Kayima, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander could not confirm whether they handed over the video footage.
Asked why they barred the said family relatives from addressing the media, Kayima denied the move but continued to say that the delicacy of the case does not allow such since it may interfere with the ongoing investigations.
State Attorney Ann Ntimba promptly informed court that investigations into the case were still incomplete.
That was it. With a magistrate’s court lacking jurisdiction to hear capital offences, presiding magistrate Noah Sajjabi remanded the suspects to Luzira prison until December 6, when they will reappear for mention of their case.
