Uganda Police has Monday released a statement about the armed thugs who trailed and shot dead a veterinary Doctor, a one Dr. Salongo Godfrey Kato, at Bulamu, Kasangati Trading Centre, in Wakiso district.

He was driving his Toyota corolla car Reg. number UAN 198W.

Police spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, said two officers were also shot; one CPL. Auleti Simon Peter died instantly and No. 63500 PC Akwongere was critically injured.

There is also a taxi driver of taxi registration number UAL 461N who was also shot at and injured.

He was taken to Mulago Hospital for medical attention.

Two riffles were taken by the criminals.

The field force police officers were from duty at a Chinese factory called Far Reaching Import And Export Company.

The deceased had land wrangles where unknown people had sent him threatening messages, telling him to back off that land.

Kaweesi says Police is widening its investigations beyond the land issue.
