Makerere University students are demonstrating and Uganda Police has deployed heavily at the main campus.
The students have been complaining about delayed issuing of IDs for freshers, marks for continuing students and transcripts for the current graduates.
However, TheUgandan understands that this prompted a letter from the Deputy Vice Chancellor’s Office (F&A) addressing the issue – a communication that has been rejected by students.
President Museveni closed Makerere University on November 2 after students went on strike demanding that lecturers who had earlier gone on strike demanding for nine months accrued arrears to resume teaching as they pursued their demands.
