Police probes death of 4th-year Makerere student

Police in Kampala has commenced investigations into circumstances surrounding the death of a 4th-year student of Bio-medical Radiology at Makerere University, Ashraf Nsubuga Ashiraf who committed suicide yesterday.

Nsubuga a government-sponsored student was found hanging on a rope in the doorway of his room at Nsimbirwa Hall at Makerere University.

He was found by his roommate who had returned from Church.

According to a police statement issued by Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigire, police visited the scene and the body was taken to Mulago hospital for postmortem.

The reason behind Nsubuga’s committing suicide is not yet known, but police say they are still making further inquiries into the matter.
